Enabling the provision of contactless payment apps with remote secure element features through the addition of HCE support
New York & Paris - 19 March 2014- AIRTAG, the leading provider of mobile shopping solutions today announces the addition of Host Card Emulation (HCE) support, to its AIRPASS SDK solution. The AIRPASS SDK, is an API based developer kit that payment issuers such as banks, mobile network operators and retailers, can use to provision contactless mobile payment applications.
With the addition of HCE support to the AIRPASS SDK, users can now provision payment applications that securely store user credentials in the cloud, to bypass having to use an embedded or sim secure element on a phone. The SDK also includes a secure server that acts as a wallet management platform- which leverages tokenization to securely support the HCE features.
“Through the addition of HCE support to the AIRPASS SDK, we aim to further enable the payment eco-system through meeting consumer and industry expectations for user experience and security,” said Jérémie Leroyer CEO & Co-founder of AIRTAG. “Because of HCE’s opened architecture we believe that the technology provides more viable business models for advancing mobile payments and we are excited to continue working alongside banks on provisioning cloud based contactless payment solutions.”
Currently, the AIRPASS SDK including HCE is being used by two banks in North America, which are set to release their solutions by the end of 2014.
AIRPASS SDK Snapshot:
The solution is a set of software tools that services providers can use to develop applications for contactless mobile payments. Including JavaDoc APIs and detailed developer guides, users can autonomously develop a secure solution that is approved by the card networks. Users do not need to understand communication between the cardlet and secure element, as it’s completely managed by the included APIs, which significantly simplifies development processes. Additionally, the solution supports multiple operating systems and secure elements including: cloud based, embedded and SIM.
The AIRPASS SDK has recently been announced as a finalist in the Contactless Mobile Awards hosted by Contactless Intelligence, in the “Infrastructure” category.
